Recently, New Image Group had the pleasure of hosting Jonathan Luk, the CEO of Alibaba Group. Covering business-to-business online marketplaces, retail and payment platforms, shopping search engines and data-centric cloud computing, Alibaba Group operates its Internet-based Chinese language businesses primarily in the People’s Republic of China.
The Chairman of New Image Group, Graeme Clegg, met with Jonathan to discuss opportunities for New Image and Alibaba to work together in the E-commerce marketplace.
As a reputable New Zealand manufacturer with capabilities in fields including research and development, food safety systems and production, New Image exports health products to many countries.
Jonathan introduced the business model of Taobao.com. Founded by Alibaba Group in 2003, Taobao Marketplace facilitates business-to-business (B2B) and consumer-to-consumer (C2C) retail by providing a platform for businesses and individual entrepreneurs to open online retail stores that mainly cater to consumers in mainland China.
With around 530 million registered users, and as the current leading Chinese E-Commerce platform, Taobao could provide New Image with an excellent opportunity to introduce its products to Chinese consumers.
This was Jonathon’s second visit to New Zealand. “New Zealand is an amazing country with beautiful scenery and friendly people”, he said. “I am grateful for the hospitality of New Image Group and hope to visit New Zealand again very soon”.

We’ve lifted the lid on exciting new capabilities.
New Image has just opened a new, state-of-the-art can-making facility at one of our Auckland sites.
On a recent Friday in April, we hosted a group of industry and media people to take part in an event that we had been planning for months.
The New Zealand Minister of Trade, Hon. Tim Groser officially opened the new can making line, and guests were escorted around the facility to view some of our manufacturing capability. This included the HPP liquid filling (high pressure, low temperature processing), capsules, tableting and much more. This was followed by light refreshments and a chance to network.
You are invited to discover for yourself more about New Image Group’s manufacturing capability. Please contact our sales team at email@example.com for more information.
